Default vehicle speed sensor or lack there of

i just put a 46re from a 99 ram in my 97 1500. after i did so and got it all bolted in realized that the new trans does not have a vehicle speed sensor on the back of the tail housing. starting in 98 dodge started taking the vehicle speed off the abs sensor on the back diff. the question is can i take a abs sensor for a 98 or 99 and insall in my rear diff and wire it into my current wireing and get my speedo and cruse control back? if not any ideas would help

Then swap out the O.D. unit to a 96-97 one.
