Default What component is this???

I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 and in the passenger side under the hood there is something that pops/clicks continuously when the engine is started. I have no Idea what it is and what I need to do to get it to stop clicking/poping. Here is a Pic of it also.

Thanks Matt

that's the 'purge solenoid' for the evap emissions system. it should cycle occasionally to pull vapors from the canister and dump them into the intake.

autozone had one for my 01 for about $30-35 or so.

You might want to check the connector also. Make sure everything is well grounded.

Ok about the connectors, what one is it exactly? I have several connectors that aren't plugged into anything. They have fake connectors in them and have plugs where the wires would be. There is one that breaks off of that solenoid and does down toward the top shock mount and isn't connected to anything. So is the solenoid bad since it clicks continuously is that what you're thinking?

The wires to the solenoid should be connected. Check wiring diagrams.
