Default whining noise

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 sport off road that when the gas pedal is pressed the truck whines. It sounds like it might be coming from the rear or center of the truck, but I'm not sure. When I let off the gas it goes away. This whine stays with the vehicle all the time even when operating down the highway. If i put it into neutral it goes away and if im siting in park and just rev the engine no nosie its fine Anyone have any ideas ?

Only makes noise when moving? Time to drop the driveshaft, pull the tailshaft housing off the t-case, and see if the snap ring is still there.

Also check rear end for bad bearings. Just spin things by hand, if it feels crunchy, you got problems.

I had the exact same thing...was a worn out pinion bearing in the rear end... I had the LSD rebuilt while they were in there so it was almost an $800 repair for me.
