Default 2000 5.9 1500 abs?

Hi there, I have a 2000 Dodge ram regular cab 1500. It snowed finally the other day, and I was checking to see if my truck has ABS, first time owning a truck, so I wasn't positive. So I held the brakes in a snowy street, and the tires locked up. Is that mean that I don'e have ABS, or that it doesn't work??

Best way to check for ABS is to look behind the front wheel, if theres a wire running to a sensor, you have 4 wheel ABS. If no wire/sensor, then rear wheel ABS.

Either way if all 4 locked it's not working. I and quit a few others that I've seen, have rear ABS but it doesn't work.

I've never tested the abs on my 01 ram but have in other dodge vehicles, it was pretty obvious when it worked on the front because it pulses the brakes making a shuttering sound.

I've only got rear wheel abs. I honestly can't remember if they locked up or not when in snow/ice. I'm thinking they did.

When you start your truck and see the dash lights come on....you would see ABS. Other way to check is look near your master brake cylinder and find extra lines for the ABS. Last but not least...

I think the best way to determine if you have ABS is to see if you have an ABS light when you start your truck. It will be at the bottom of the cluster.

I think all of the trucks at least had RWAL, 4WAL was an option..... check the front wheels, and see if you have wheel speed sensors. (wire going to the hub) If there isn't a wire, you have RWAL. And yes, it isn't worth spit.
