1995 starting problem??
hello , here's my machine:
DODGE RAM lifted 4x4 1995 360 v8 5.9
here's what led up to this:
i was driving on the "highway" and my truck seamed to run outta gas.no sputter or nothin ,well i tried to start it a few times just to make sure, so i went got gas when i got back i gassed it up , this time i jumped in looed at the gauges and all normal. turnded the key and nothin ... as if it were a dead battery . had the starter tested, it was good or all 3 tests . re installed the starter. and still nothing. well i was able to start it from the starter with a screw driver. now i cant figure out the problem.... really wanna fix it instead of bypassing it with a push button.

The starter circuit is kinda bizarre.... The ignition switch controls a relay in the power distribution center (black box right behind the battery, under the hood.) First, check and see that the ignition switch does indeed ground pin 86 in the PDC cavity for the relay. If that checks out, verify 12 volts on pin 87 with ignition in Run position. If you don't have power there, check the neutral safety switch on the trans..... find out where power gets lost.
Quick test would be to put your finger on the starter relay, and have someone else try and start the truck. See if you feel it click. Can also try swapping the starter relay with the horn relay, and see if that doesn't solve it.
