Hello, I hav a 1500 390 4x4. I have a leak at the front of the motor that a new hose, thermostat gasket and new water pump didn't take care of. Any idea anywhere else it could b coming from?
As for the leak from under the dash it's on the passenger side. From what I've read, I suspected the heater core, so I took it to a shop that worked on the water pump at the same time. They got it all put together n pressure tested it, told me it held for 24 hours, so it can't be the heater core. But they didn't look into it any further to find a leak. Sometimes when at start or driving I hear a girggling or sloshing sound from under the dash. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated thank you. I'm sorry if I double posted this.

The leak at the front of the motor could be the timing chain cover.Originally Posted by Okahomma

The cab leak and the noise's from the dash really sounds like the heater core.
Thanks, stew, for the advice. When I do look at the motor I hav noticed there was another cover, but was never to sure. And it jus seemed like it was coming from the top of the cover and jus running down the entire edge of the cover.
There's alot to take off before you get to the timing cover, but when you get to it, is it as simple as putting on another gasket or putting rtv seal on it and torquing the cover back on or, is there something else wrong internally?

First of all, get a manual before doing the work. And yes , you simply clean off the old and install a new gasket with sealer at certain spots(thats where the manual comes in). And since you are going that far, you should replace the timing gears and chain.

Make sure whats on your floor is not just water which could be coming from a faulty seal
If its not the heater core could it possibly be the AC evaporator core or any of the hoses running to the HVAC system through the firewall

the noise just means you have an air pocket in the cooling system...usually you can burp it out by parking so the rad fill hole is the highest point in the system and run till the state opens and add coolant as needed...

Both are next to each other. And if you have coolant leaking its not the evap core. If the carpet is just wet you might have a leaking third brake lite. Or seal around the rear window. As far as the gurgling goes, burp the system some more. If the gurgling goes away for a while and returns, odds are the heater core is leaking.

dumb me temporarily (which turned into a lot longer than it should have) put wires across the weatherstripping
I just got my interior back together today
