transfer case wont let go
Have a 1995 ram 1500 4x4, and transfer case went bad, got a sweet deal on a replacement tcase with new chain bearing the works, so...folled sherrif's post on t case removal along with the fsm.
I have all bolts out of tcase to tranny (6 of them..tho 2 bolts stayed in the nuts are off), the rear and front drive shafts are off, the tranny and t case are in neutral, shift linkage and everything else disconnected.
I cannot get this t case to separate from the tranny, tried pry bars, putty knifes, bfh and nothing works, hasnt budged, anyone here run into this and what did you do to get the t case free of the transmission?

hmm... mine just came right off without even hardly a wiggle.
the 6 bolts are all that holds it to the trans.
i'm no expert, but here's what i would try...
snug the transmission back down to the crossmember.
loosely reinstall 4 of the 6 nuts, leaving about 1/2 inch of play. this is to prevent the tcase from falling off.
next place a jack under the rear of the tcase, with a piece of wood under the case, and try to jack a little pressure under it.
if that doesn't work, i'd somehow rig a come-along to the t-case and try to pull it rearward. this was also a Sheriff trick for pulling the front diff and it worked for me. with good pressure on t-case, smack it around with a big rubber hammer, or a BFH and a block of wood. don't break the case. it has value.
