the chrystler 9.25 are actually very stout axles! They were put behind almost every hemi muscle car made back in the 60-70's!

That was actually the 8.25, or 3/4 can never remember. None the less the 9.25 is very stout and is comparible in strength to a dana 60. If somebody only made a c-clip eliminator kit for it it'd be great. I don't think the 37's were all to blame for the distruction. I believe there was more wrong than that.

8 3/4 was behind many small block and less gnarly big blocks, but 9 1/4's were put behind hemi's, 6-pack 440's, 4-speed stuff.... anything that was gonna be heavily abused got the heavily abusable axle.

Every 9.25 I had under my truck blew up within a year the 9.25 has terrible pinion bearings and under excessive strain from large tires and more horse power they are like pretzels I went through 3 axles then I went and did my d60 d70 swap and have had no issues since and I'm still running factory 3.55s with 38s but can't wait for my 5.13s lol BTW if you need transfer case parts I have several transfer cases laying around.

ditto...I had my pinion bear replaced in mine from failure and so did a friend.... and Its common knowledge here that 37" tires do not work well with these axles... Some pull it off but But my guess is they are for show and babied...

With the larger tires, starting > 35" a transfer case clocking ring should be done to relieve the angle on the pinion....yes?

More a product of how much lift you have. I think around 6 to 8 inches, and you need to start considering that......

Mine has 8" and when I installed the lift I installed a 241hd with no slip yoke a tom woods driveshaft installed deaver springs a zero rate block a wedge to kick the pinion up and did a shackle flip with teraflex revolver shackles. That was all before putting big tires on it. So it has to be that the 9.25 pinion bearings cant handle the constant load of big tires. Maybe they would work fine on grandmas mall crawler but not on a real truck.
