Question Electrical Gremlin help?

Just picked up a 1998 V10 ECSB 4x4.

It is plagued by a few electrical issues I can't see to track down.

First, I've put a new battery, new alternator, new external voltage regulator, replaced a 100 amp fuse in a 140amp spot. Truck now charges fine. However.....

The overhead interior lights, glove box light and fog lights and radio did not work. Checked EVERY fuse, 4-5 times, all good. When I had the radio out to look behind it I jumpered the constant power wire over to the lights and all those things not working will work. So obviously there is some thing wrong with that circuit.

...ran it a few days with the jumper and it does not blow any fuses. Now, even with the jumper out the battery drains to zero over night. This "seems" to be the only non stock, quirk with the truck.

Any idea where to look for the drain? Any common drains I have not found by searching yet? Even if you can give me links of search terms that would be helpful.

Thanks!

Look for the Service manual in the diy area and download the 2001 manual, have a look @ page 453 or Section 8E and do a read on CTM. Good place to start anyway.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me. Radio didnt work, seat belts didnt work (they just locked up), lights didnt work. It was the IOD fuse. Replaced that and it worked perfectly afterwards. I know you said you didn't blow any fuses, but just check that again to be sure.

Here is my thread when I had the problem ---> https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ml#post2674541

Thanks.

Silly IOD fuse had the smallest of cracks in it. Had to hold it up to a flash light to tell.

No if I could find a switched power under the hood for the new voltage regulator I would be set.

Grab something off the ASD relay. Even with the key on, if the engine isn't running, it will shut off after 3 seconds or so.
