Interchangable bed

I have an 01 2500 4X4 Cummins extended cab that has a lot of damage to the bed. Is a bed from an 1996 2500 interchangable with mine? If not what years are?

So long as they are the same length, I think a bed from an 94 to 01 half ton, or 94 to 02 3/4 or 1 ton will bolt right on.

I believe there was something different in the 94 tailgates to make them different, maybe where they mount
