When you say Hughes Manifold I was actually thinking of the Keg manifold kits that they also offer for sale.

A lot of people lose bottom end with a 14x3 too. Plus the sucking noise.(which I personally couldn't stand). And I did lose bottom end also. There's really not much wrong with the factory air intake, I do however use a K&N drop in filter in the summer when I can wash it without freezing. During winter I use a WIX.

From what i'm reading i should get the Edlebrock 1207 14x3 to replace my intake and it just needs a 1/2 in gasket to fit?
Mine required a 1" spacer to clear the throttle body linkage cables

It's not that I have a problem with the stock intake in general, but mine happens to be broken. I just want to replace it without breaking the bank. Suggestions are definitely appreciated. I won't be power moding the truck its my DD and want life out of it.

hmm.... junkyard or ebay comes to mind... as well as classified section here... all will have replacement stock or cheaper aftermarket ones...I use a $30 cold air intake from ebay...works pretty well over the last three years...I replaced a 14x3 setup that was there from the PO. (no spacer required on the 14x3 I had?)

If you don't want to break the bank and you are happy with the stock air intake set up then go to the nearest jy and find used parts to replace whatever is broken on yours.

I wonder if the cables are run differently on the '96? The throttle body linkage on mine is on the passenger side and the cables are run from the driver side and curve in front of the alternator and are raised up a tad, the base of the 14x3 won't sit evenly without a spacer on mine.

I tried JY few times same problem clips broke. If there were gains from aftermarket money one I might spring for it. Problem is I need exhaust from headers back bc of corrosion.
Any cheap fixes for that? I was wondering if I could use some eBay stuff or buy pacesetter headers use existing cat n maybe magnaflow for rest... Never messed w and exhaust but I'm not scared too either, just need the info n tools.
