Well I got the 4wd fixed again!

Took about a whole 10 mins to change, a little hint is to pull the 4x4 selector lever all the way towards the seat (in my truck it was 4hi) this will give you a little more room to get a pair of adjustable pliers in there.

Where is the worm gear adjuster?
I tried looking for it just now and couldn't find it. I had read that you had to take the gear box out. That true?

the adjuster is on top of the steering box. its a allen head bolt/stud about 5mm with a locknut.

of all the hours and thousands of dollars i've spent working on my truck, this 10 minutes had the most payback in improving its driveability and making it stop wandering down the road.

Found it after looking from the top with mah Maglite.
Already cleaned it too. Now you can see it better.
Thanks for the link though, that is actually one of the ones that came up on Google.
I think I will try it monday, have a about 1.5-2in of slop either side. And it wanders....bad.

I'd be surprised if you can adjust that much play out of it. Save some money and get a Redhead steering box.

If you need more room to work, just remove the bolts to the fan shroud and slide it up a little.
