I'm looking at a 2001 2500 ram v10 went to test drive it and the auto trans shifts fine no slipping it's right there but the passing gear would not work. I did get it to work once. The truck has around 80,000 miles. What could cause the passing gear not to work. Like I said the trans feels great.

 

Probably needs to have the throttle valve cable adjusted

 

What do you mean by passing gear? Like it won't down shift from over drive to 3rd when you accelerate to pass? But it shifts up through the gears normally? Very strange.
