Wow that is a lot of miles for a 97! Thats really awesome that all you have had to do was wear and tear maintenence, and a transfer case at 250,000 is definetely nothing to complain about. What kind of mpg are you averaging city/highway?

That is alot of miles for a 97'...I guess I dont feel so bad with only 11,700 miles on my 00' . Anyway, what do you all know about the Moparperformance parts deep transmission pan for the Ram. I really like how it holds an additional 2 quarts of transmission fluid and has fins for extra cooling. My dealer told me today that I needed the A-727 for my 46RH/RE transmission. BUT, I called Moparperformance parts and they stated that I need the A-518. Moparperf. stated that the two are fairly identical, but the 518 was specific to the 46RH/RE tranny. My dealer stated that the only 2 he can order are the A-727 and A-904 deep cast alum pans. So, do any of you all know exactly what my tranny takes because the guy at Moparperf. was pretty sure of himself. But why would my local Dodge dealer state that it only lists 2 types in his computer? Makes me wonder....and, I sure as heck dont want the wrong cast alum. tranny deep pan installed so that it can just leak alot down the road. Also, would I need my tranny bands adjusted yet with almost 12K miles and it being 5 years old?

In the past few months I have been doing little mods here and there to help my power and mpg. After the k&n fipk and gutting the cat I am averaging about 15-16 hwy and 12-14 city. The highway miles are at speeds around 85mph so I am pretty happy with it but it could always get better. I also think when I replace my plenum pan (which I check the other day and has alot of oil in it) my mileage should increase a little more.

I don't mean to hijack your thread but anybody know where to get a cheap transfer case.

The only difference is the 727 uses a spacer between the filter and valve body, the A-518 doesn't. 727, 518, 618, 46 and 47 all use the same pan gasket and pans. The Dakota A-500 is based on the old 904 tranny. Use a quality gasket and follow the torque specs, it won't leak a drop.
