00' offroad package...will 285's fit??
OK...I did some searches, but didnt find a definitive answer. I just purchased an 00' clubcab 4x4 w/offroad package. Now, its only got 11Kmiles and has been garaged. So, its in mint condition. The tires are the original at/s by Goodyear, they are 5 years old and show hardly any dry-rot at all. BUT, I want to replace them anyway as they are 5 years old regardless. Should I/can I go with 285/70/17's to replace the stock 275/70/17's? I dont know if that little of a difference matters with the offroad package lift, but I just thought a little bigger may help aesthetically. I dont mind to stay at 275, but obvisouly the bigger the better. I definately dont want 305's! And, should I replace the shocks or are they ok even though they are 5 years old??
Thanks, Paul

I put some 285/70/17 BFG MT's on my 01 off-road with no problems at all. I eventually put a 2" leveling kit on it. The kit wasn't used for clearing the tires, I just wanted it to sit a little higher. You should have no ploblems at all. Now, are you sure you typed 11K miles right? If so your making me ill! What a find. My 01 has 74K on it![:@]

Yes, my truck actually does have only 11Kmiles on it...I really got lucky. I went ahead and decided to stay with 275/70's and got some new Goodyear Wrangler "silent armor" AT's today. I wanted bigger, but man, with todays gas prices I didnt want to put bigger ones on right now. I thought about it long and hard, but I got a SUPER deal on these silent armor tires at the 275 size, I couldnt pass them up. Anyway, getting ready to put on K&N fipk and Fastman TB along with a flowmaster exhaust...breath baby breath[:-]
