OK, I'll say it for the last time. If the cat is clogged there is a 99.9% chance the plenum gasket is blown, period. And a .1% chance the pcv is shot. No disrespect toward your Grandfather, but, You simply need to remove the TB and check it.
On a side note, I went to the junk yard today. And I got the filter/vent cap for the end of the green vac line if you would like it.

Just a word of warning.
I am not like other people. I will NOT say, "don't say I didn't tell you so!"
I WILL say "I told you so!"
First, glad you got it fixed......for now.
If you do not address the plenum problem, you will be having the same problem again. It is that simple! A number of members have mentioned the plenum and how it will clog a cat. You had a clogged cat, which for general information, do NOT clog themselves.
Do yourself a favor - look inside the TB with a flashlight and a mirror. Look for signs of oil on the pan below. This is a sign of a blown plenum.
And I've been around probably as long or longer than your grandpa.....and I knew nothing about the plenmum issue until I learned it here on DF. This is not a bad thing, but it would be wise to take advantage of the knowledgebase here!
So if you post back in a month or two that your truck is using oil, has no get up and go, I will post, "We told you so!"

I agree with GDSTOCK Its your truck....I'm not trying to give you a hard time, But Honestly with that kind of attitude dont expect sympathy of help from many of us here.. Maybe you have to learn the hard way IDK but You have been given good advise on how to resolve this the right way.
And dont be suprised if you get poor mpg and codes from running rich with no cat...
