I guess it is normal. Just wondered if a tuner of some sort would alter shift points much. I can tell you an 01 F150 and a 94 Z71 don't react the same. Not sure if they have a lockup TC or not, but I believe so. My bad on the 96, thought they had the 46rh.

I want to make my Dodge transmission act as least Dodge-like as possible I guess. Lol. May be a trivial pursuit. Driving two of the other big 3 has made me notice the flaws in the Dodge trans (reliability not included).

Ok I live just outside of memphis. Mine shifts into od earll as well, I just leave it off till i need it. After a couple days of switching it off it becomes habit.

easy one sell it and drive the chevy...
I think my dads 2005 f150 shifts kinda odd at times... maybe your engines not putting out the power it should be ... that would describe lagging being so noticeable?

superchips moves the OD and TC Lock out to much more driveable settings.
hypertech does nothing.

Power in the dodge feels about the same as my 94 Z71 for the first few gears. The Z71 is a project truck I bought at the scrap yard for 500 dollars. Lol. It runs pretty well, has a newly rebuilt transmission. It had no back brakes, no heat, 4wd didn't work, brake lights didn't work, signal lights didn't work, no rear shocks, etc. I've fixed all that for 60 dollars or so and scrap yard parts swappin. It's more of a hobby than a daily driver as of yet. Actually, was considering seeing if I could sell it and make enough profit to buy a tuner and new tires for the dodge. I can say I like everything about the dodge better, except the transmission. Chevy shifts better. Both of them have a cracked dash. Dammit. Lol

Superchips moves the OD shift points, good info. Do you have one and like it?

SCT seems to be the programmer of choice here. Does it move the OD and TC lockup points? If no, I'm considering the superchips for that reason.

i do have a superchips and i do like it. its not a huge power gain like an SCT and its not for non-stock engines like SCT.

it does modify the OD and TC shift points and it does adjust the speedo for tire size. my original OD shift was at about 42 mph. now its at about 52 or so.

SCT does not correct speedo.
I don't know if SCT will move the OD and TC shift out.

I think? the OD and TC shift might? have been a dodge pcm update on TSB-something, but i don't know...

I had, and still have a hypertech and didn't like it at all. it didn't do squat - it wouldn't adjust speedo like it was supposed to and didn't move OD.

TSB 18-006-02 revision B is the TSB your talking about, I think, dhvaughan. Was for 2000-2001 trucks, not sure if it was for earlier models too (mine's a 98). I believe revision C of that TSB was the deathflash, which is scary. But revision B moved lockup to 52 mph and eliminated lockup in 3rd. May ask the dealer about it so they can look at me funny. Superchips sounds like what I need to get. Do you know the model number of your tuner offhand?

Sure Cure kit and adjust pressure in VB may help.
