i have superships 3815, which is not the newest, nor the oldest.
it has a USB port and is internet updateable. this update capability doesn't really do anything for vehicles as old as ours, however, this 3815 model is for all dodge and jeep vehicles - so if you ever want to sell it - someone with say a '08 Jeep could buy it and download the latest update and use it with ease. so the 3815 has some resell value while 3715 has much less.

the 3715 is older and i think its not updateable. it would probably work fine in our trucks as long as its firmware is after say '03 or '04.

i bought mine as new-old-stock from a tuner company on ebay for about $225. if you shop around you should be able to find them used in the 150-200 range.

BE SURE - if you buy one used that its been "returned to stock" as it has a memory of whether its been used or not, and it will only load the pcm of one vehicle at a time. a picture of the tuner screen will show this. if you find a seller that doesn't know what this means - do not buy it as its likely the vehicle they used it on is long gone and the tuner is WORTHLESS.

one other thing - if that TSB is for 00-01 only, don't assume the superchips will apply the transmission change to your 98. call or email superchips and ask them.

Just a heads up SCT can change OD shift point because it the only shift with any electronic control.

I know on mine only the 91 and 93 tune is the OD higher, kicks in around 52-55, talk to hemifever and see what he can do for you

Both tuners change the shift points slightly. But that's just part of the programing . The end user can not adjust it, (like tire size for instance SC only). That's all I was saying. And I also have the SC. The same one I used on my 98 1500 with 3:55 gears. There's no comparison using it on my 2000 with 4:10's. 3:55's are simply too high of gearing for these rigs, no matter what you use it for. If you left OD off ALL the time, I bet the tranny's would last a lot longer than they do. Even the owners manual says to turn it off when you come up on an incline. But who the hell is gonna do or remember that.

Allright, I'll be asking Hemifever and contacting Superchips and go from there. Yeah Z man, I always thought if these transmissions (on 3.55 geared Dodges) would wait to shift into OD until a later point, the trans might last longer too. Seems like it would be a strain on the trans lugging around in OD. Past 52 MPH or so, my truck will pull OK. The 40-45 mph OD shift is kinda ridiculously low to me. Lower gears would accomplish the same thing, but other than that 40-50 mph zone, I'm content with the power the truck has with the 3.55's. Now in a perfect world, I'd have at least 3.73's (whatever Dodge's version is around that range), a little bigger tire, and the tuner. But one thing at a time. I saw one 4wd truck at the scrap yard with 4.10's. It was an 01 ORE. I should have my butt whooped for not snagging those axles, but the flattener got ahold of it before I did.

I used to wait until about 65 before turning it on in my 98. The 2000 I do it at 60. And it just so happens the tranny from the 98 with over 190K is in my 2000. The 2000 tranny puked at 80K. probably from the abuse of snow plowing. Bought it at 78k. The 98 had only 8k when I got it.

I was going to do that last summer, but I'm so used to doing what I do now, I said the hell with it.

I believe its a momentary switch that sends a signal to the pcm.(judging by how it works )... swapping wires in the switch wont change anything... it resets after every restart....

It can be changed/reversed per the DIY link provided.
