Greetings:
This is my first post here. I hope to hang out for awhile. I'm picking up my '99 1500 Quad cab with the 5.9 gas and 4x4 tomorrow. It's only got 78000 miles. Auto check shows 1 wreck but no details. Title is clear.
Anyway, my last decent ride was a '97 reg cab diesel 4x4 that I bought in '98.
I once pulled 16800 pounds (measured on a scale) from Vancouver Washington to Fairbanks Alaska with that truck. I immediately took it to the dealer for a tranny service and was prepared for it to be a total loss. The service writer said it was the blackest fluid he had ever seen but that there was no metal in the pan. They flushed it and refilled it and I put another 100K on the truck before selling it. I wish I still had it dangit.
Anyway, that's one tough transmission. I heard a rumor that a 46E can be rebuilt as a 47E. Is that true? If not, does the 47E bolt up the same in the 1500 as the 2500 Diesel? There is nothing wrong with the tranny in the truck I'm buying. I just want to know.
