Default transmission conversion

I have the 2001 V6 auto 2wd ram with a 42re auto tranny. I know the 46re will bolt right up to the engine, but I wonder if there are any issues with the connections to it. I have found that even if I get another 42re, it has to be from a 2000 or 2001. I also found that I will need to have the drive shaft shortened which is no issue, but I do not want to do this conversion if there are electrical connections that I can not rectify at the completion of the project. Your thoughts?

well. Tparkin you plan on upgrading the engine to a 5.9... it would make sense to go through the trouble... as far as putting a stronger transmission on the v6 it may not be a worthwhile expense since the v6 is not really putting out enough torque to really need it. In fact its underpowered as it is, the gearing in the 46re may make it worse..(different power band usually mean different gearing) and the 42re and 46re are still going to have the same weaknesses that actually cause them to fail...I'd just have the 42re rebuilt and the weaknesses addressed.
just my thoughts though...
