Default Loose Tie Rod

Probably a dumb questin, but it something like this ok, please see the attached video. I can just grab it and without much force move it back and forth, no vertical play at all though. Boots are torn, but I greased both ends today. Normal?

Sorry for the awful quality the sun screwed me and I took it with my phone

There's no video. But either way, there should be NO movement. If it's moves back and forth or up/down it needs replaced.

I can't really tell anything from the vid. It looks like your twisting it, correct? If so, they do twist normally. The ends are a ball and socket, and it appears that what you are doing is twisting the socket around the ball which would be normal movement.

Yes, I guess you would call it twisting. Heres what I did. I layed on my belly head facing the tailgate, I reached under the rod and rolled my hand toward my head then back toward the tailgate, thats how it moves and makes the knocking noise. It doesnt have play any other way. That normal ?
