Default 1997 2500 hitch reciver

This maybe a stupid question... I need to purchases a hitch receiver for my 97 Dodge Ram 2500. The truck has a 4" lift. Would I need to buy a hitch receiver with a 4" drop then?

Receiver bolts on in the same spot, regardless of lift, you will need a drop hitch. (the part the ball bolts onto.)

Or make your own receiver with as much drop to your heart's content.

Yeah, the wink was not meant to be take serious unless you have fabrication skills and an understanding of what load rating intended. People have done this though.
