Default Possible tranny/sensor problem? Help?!

My '99 dodge ram 1500 is having problems shifting into 2nd gear when it's cold. It tries to jump into 2nd, then relaxes and this process repeats a few times. When I step on the gas even remotely hard the engine will work harder but the tach doesn't go up. I don't believe it's the tranny, because I just got that looked at a few months ago and was told it was still in good condition. It only did this one time before I drove it 200 miles across the state, now it does it every time I drive it, but only for the first few miles, then it drives just fine again. So I know I wasn't very clear, I don't know too much about trucks yet but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I bring it in...Thanks! Also: none of the lights on my dash are on and I already checked the oil and spark plugs.

Try replacing the tranny speed sensor.

Also, put truck in Neutral and check tranny fluid. And dash lights are either a fuse or the headlight switch.

It is amazing how many tranny related problems posted and this hasn't been checked. It is also strange that Dodge built these to be checked in neutral as this is atypical.

I'm ashamed to say long before I got a clue with vehicles my S10 Blazer started to have difficulties shifting into 2nd, it would rev then kick into gear....The problem? Low on fluid.
