v10 swap
well i just got my truck, but i need more power lol. The 5.9 does fine, but the 35's and 3.55 gearing kills it in the hills. I know the cheaper way to go is do the gears, but i always wanted a v10. So the question is, can it be done? Will the 10 bolt right up in the frame and to the trans? Obviously id have to change the computers, but anything else?
Wiring harness as well. Engine mounts. It won't bolt to the trans, so, you will need that too. T-case should be fine though.
Probably cheaper/easier to find a truck you like that already has one in it.

^^^ That.
HD = 1 1/4" input, 29 spline output
LD = 1 1/8" input, 23 spline output.
V8 nv4500 trucks are very hard to come by... don't just throw it out so easily. Build the v8 and drop in a set of 4.56's or 4.88's.

Just saw a V 10 for sale today. Nice truck, 4wd, extended cab, leather. Had 305 BFG AT's. 150k miles, 6500 OBO. Automatic trans. Kinda wanted it when I thought it was a diesel. Saw the V10 badge and figured I was already burning enough gas. Lol

yea, gears are the cheapest way to go. Right now, with the speedo at 65, im doing 75 and im right at 2k on the tach in 5th gear, so i think id like to be around 2500 or a little more. I wont always be going that fast, but once i get on the thruway headin upstate, i wanna go lol. So now i gotta figure which gears are best, thinkin 4.10s or 4.56s
