smoked out tail lights
Looking for some opinions. I was thinking about smoking out my tail lights.but I have read its ileagal. But I have also read that its not that bad if you can still see your breaks lights frm 300 or 400 ft away so my question is should I or should I not do it. I was thinking if I did it. I would also swap out the stock bulb for L.E.D. lights. I mainly travel from Washington state to Oregon state.
Any opinions people have about driving with them in either state is great. But any input is much appriciated.

Check your local laws before doing it... call the cop shop, and see what they say.
Anything the makes it more difficult for folks to see me when I am doing things like turning, or braking, doesn't sound like a good idea to me though.

I surely wouldn't do it. Drivers are inattentive enough without depriving them of visual feedback of your actions -- I don't know how you might feel about it, but the belief that it's the other guy's fault isn't going to make me feel any better about my wife being injured when my truck gets rear-ended.
Me? I want more light, not less.

Not a good idea!! There are many other things you can do to the truck for cosmetic appearances-this is one I would skip for safety. I used to investigate accidents and the major one that involved large trucks (18 wheelers) and obviously the most carnage had to do with visibility issues.
My taillights are smoked, but I bought them aftermarket. I do NOT recommend doing it yourself, due to the fact that you most likely will make your taillights almost completely black. Aftermarket smoked taillights are barely smoked out, and are still plenty bright.
