Default hub assembly

ok, I relaced my pass side bearing assemby and axel joint. I drove the truck under 3 miles and BANG just as i pull out of the walmart parking spot. The brand new assembly broke. thats what i get to do today! but what would coul cause it? just a faulty part? alignment issue? my guess is a faulty part.

wrong part or improper installation are some other causes readily available.

could you be more defenitive on improper installation? I removed the old one, cleand up the end of the housing (rust, grime, ect( with a wire brush, installed the new. torqued to 125 ft pnds. torqued axel nut to 175. i also installed the guard and shim that was there prevouse. If i did it wrong i dont want to make the same mistake twice.

When you inserted the axle shaft back in, where you careful about not taking out the seal within the axle/diff housing? Did you ensure that you got the axle shaft splines to mesh with the diff?

I'd like to presume you did given that you say you torqued everything down, but that assumes everything seated properly...or could have seated improperly.

Did you test spin the hub after torquing?

This also presumes the ujoint was installed properly.

This all presumes you have to correct parts too. I'm not meaning to knock you at all, just inquiring on the things that are not in your post. Indeed a bad part could plausible, but I tend to look at things as my own damn fault before getting that far.

Link to the parts you used?

the nut was loose how ?

as in the threads had peeled off and the nut slipped off?
or had the nut simply backed off, but still had thread engagement?
