Default No speedometer or OD light

99 Ram 4x4 1500 5.2L

While driving on I-40 in Oklahoma City (possibly the worst stretch of highway in the US) my speedo went belly up along with my OD light. The brake and ABS light illuminated. Everything still works normally except those items.

I've checked all the fuses, replaced the VSS and searched for the mystery "out of place wire" with no luck.

Any ideas?

Which speed sensor did you replace? Tranny or differential? Automatic trans?

Okay, total spaced out about one on the rear diff.

Also would that cause the ABS & Brake light to come on as well as the OD light to not work?

ABS and BRAKE being on are often associated with a bad rear ABS sensor in the top of the rear pumpkin. in the parts lookup its called rear ABS sensor, not speed sensor although it actually is the speedometer speed sensor.

Thanks for the support, I've ordered the part. In my book it is called RWAL brake sensor to add to the confusion.

So many names, but the one you ordered is the right. My Ram had same problem when I got it but it was damaged wiring to that sensor.

I am still amazed that the interstate in OKC was so bad. I drive my beast all over the southwest on some of the nastiest roads and mountains imaginable and it took OKC's pothole alley to finally break it.
