What is the 1 ton conversion you mention? Did someone change out the rear diff?

Going to be hard to help you until we figure out what diff's you have under the truck. So take some pix of said diff's, look for any numbers cast in or stamped into the diff's.

Yep, should be numbers stamped in one of the axle tubes on the rear axle. Front is likely to be dana 60... as that was the meanest axle dodge used in the fronts....

Use the following picture to help you find the BOM number. Six numbers on the axle tube. You may have to do some cleaning. Numbers on the Diff cover could help too, assuming it was oem with the axle. It could be any number of 1 ton axles, Chevy, Dodge, Ford....

for the record.... thread title is so fail in terms of helping anyone else in the future. Maybe HeyYou is kind enough to modify it....

Every time I had to replace a front pinion seal, even though I knew which axle I had, the parts stores have given me the wrong one. My best advice is to remove the seal as best you can then take it in for visual comparison.

Finaly got the seal out. I took it to my local Schucks. They identified the seal as a Spicer 80 out of a Ram 2500 HD. Thank god its dodge!!!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped me with their advice!! I really appriciate everything!!

So it accually has a 3/4 ton swap then. Apparently you were mis-informed. No biggie, still better than the 1/2 ton axles.

Dana 80 was in the 1 ton trucks too. That axle probably came out of a truck with a diesel, or v-10, with a manual trans.
