I know there were two threads on this (my tranny issue) however not everybody reads the the general discussion. And my bullspit thread wasnt ment to be tech related. This valve body thread turned out to basically be a double on my transmission issue. Sorry for that. Any ways just wanted to update this as well as the in hopes of helping someone in the future. My recent service work of cleaning vb and replacing solenoid and sensor along with adj bands new filter and fluid did not solve my probelm. I recant it did but only for two days lol. The laugh is truly a stress laugh lol. I did the work on tuesday and it shifted great better than ever for two days today thursday its back to bullspit and not shifting outa first.

Unplug the 8 pin connector on the back drivers side, and take the truck for a ride. You won't have ANY automatic function, you will have to shift into the gear you want manually, and no O/D or TCC either. (so don't go real far.) If the trans shifts ok that way, replace the governor pressure sensor, and solenoid.

Will this work on a 3rd gen? I have an 06 qcsb with the cummins and I'm having a problem getting my 8 pin connector plugged back in after vb install. A friend can help but I have to get it to him.

Thanks
Sorry to hijack...

yea i kinda figured you thought i cleaned and replaced. its cool, no biggie.

however this f-ing tranny is. went to tranny shop today. after telling him everything, he says that being i did all the other possible work, it only means one of two things. the bands are shot or theres no friction in the clutches. said going to cost me $1700 bucks, thats a hundred dollars cheaper then the last guy. maybe if i ask 12 more shops it'll keep going down a hundred bucks and i can pay something more affordable like 500 bucks lol yea what a dream

If you have something else to drive for a bit, have a warm, clean, place to work, you could rebuild it yourself for around 500....... Couple members here have rebuilt theirs, and they had never been in a trans before.

Default valve body removal

I pulled the valve body out of my 96 2500 to replace the shift solenoid, the plunger and spring fell out and I didn't see how it went. I put it back together with the plunger pointing up and put the spring between the plunger and valve body. Is this wrong? It still won't shift into second, I bought the truck like that, I used the truck all summer as a yard truck, moving trailers around and stuff. Around the house you wouldn't know there was any thing wrong.
