Default early auto

The question is regarding a 1st Gen, but continue reading before you move my topic. If it needs moved I apologize in advance.

I figured I would ask this here because the topic in questions regards a 1993 model which I believe to have the same drivetrain just renamed in 94 I believe. I was wondering if the auto transmission is as destined to blow up in the early versions as it is in the second gens. Ive read, and everyone I have talked to has said that if the truck is at 150000 and the trans hasnt been rebuilt to expect to rebuild it. So I guess is it as inevitable in the late run 1st gens as the 2nd gens? Or did they do something different with them when they changed the nomenclature.

Thanks for any help. Want to be prepared before I get myself into something that I dont want to get into.

Same trans, same problems, different name. GM pulled the same stunt. Changed nomenclature for how they refer to their transmissions.
