Default Can I use Methanol instead of gas.

Is it possible to use methonal in my truck or would I damage it. If not is there anything else that I could use that I could make myself, for example like veg oil thats made into bio diesel. The cost of gas here is gone beyond a joke thats why I am wondering about the methanol or something like it.
If it gets any more expensive I think I will have to go with just plain old Horse power

No. Your PCM would have to be tuned specifically to run on alcohol. Might even need bigger injectors.

Wonder if there would be any performance gains running on alcohol?

Off topic warning:
My bro in law had a Yamaha Blaster 2 stroke standard shift, it was stretched in the rear and built for racing, only thing else that could have been done for performance was a jet fuel conversion. That would have been awesome! That bastard was FAST!

Sure, if you upgrade the fuel system to handle methanol, flow 30%+ more fuel and then run a standalone computer to tune it.

Possible, not really feasible.

E-85 conversion kit! I know alotta folks round hear aren't to fond of ethanol, but I would like to try this someday if money permits. Most likely will sacrifice mileage for cost, so in the end its probably not that economical, but I just like the idea of burning corn grown in the US. Problem is these engines were built to burn gas so its hard to convert to anything else with out extensive modification....

Nope. There's less energy in alcohol.

I don't know how expensive or available propane is where you are but that might be a viable option. It burns cleaner but with some loss of power. Just a thought.
