Default Wheel bearing qudestion.

I know most wheel bearings wiggle or make noise when going bad. Mine dont. It feels solid, no play, however. Is very hard to turn. Is this normal? Im replacing u joints and decided to inspect it.. first time. I have it out, its old lookin with a small amount of rubber flakin on the back side, and when you turn it it feels like it catches. Thanks.

00 Ram 1500 5.9 4x4. Left front wheel.

The bearing is dry, and is eating itself up. I had one on my astro van (AWD) do that. It locked up solid, and the van STOPPED moving. Right NOW. Replace the bearing.

Some advise...dont pay more for the timken bearings...they are no longer any better than your average run of the mill oem replacment...timken was bought out and the bearings under that name are mostly made by someone else now and rebranded... I was given this advice from a shop that builds and maintains racecars and found this out the hard way through using them and research...

Thanks.. I don't remember which one I put in it, but its not that. Still havent checked the other side.. My truck has become a potention project, instead of a daily driven vehicle.. Currently working on fixing 4x4, which I am sllooowwwllyy pin pointing, gear box, and now a hum in the front end.. this is after I replaced the u joint in the front drive shaft. So, Some of these days, I may have to install yet another wheel bearing.. WoOt.
