Default Please help me identify muffler in my 1995 Dodge Ram?

Hey everybody..
I was hoping to get a little help with figuring out what kind of muffler my old 1995 Dodge Ram had on it. This truck was my baby. His name was Lance and he was my first vehicle. Sadly, he caught on fire last week while I was driving home from school and blew up. I had to jump out into traffic on the freeway and watch months of hard work and money go out the window while losing a friend at the same time I was very fortunate to escape with only 3 burn marks. But anyways, the truck was completely totaled and I loved owning a Dodge so much I went out and bought the same exact truck again. The only difference is that my new one is a 5.2 L, as opposed to a 5.9 but it's still a V-8. The guy who owned the first truck before me drove it to California from Texas and I am not sure if the muffler was stock or not but I was hoping someone could help me identify what kind of muffler my old truck had on it? I'm assuming it's a Flowmaster, I just don't know which one. The only problem is that the photos I have of it are of the exhaust pipe but based off of what I was told by a friend, only a certain brand of Flowmaster has pipes this large so hopefully one of you who knows their stuff about Dodge's can help me identify what muffler I should get for Lance II? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

First of all, sorry for your loss. Hope you are healing up well. Secondly, I think you are going to find your task not an easy one. I can tell you the size of your pipe at the end is rarely indicative of the muffler before it. Many times, as in my case, the tail pipe is of a larger diameter than the outlet on your muffler. Flowmaster, Thrush, knock off brands, all brands really, all have multiple inlet and outlet sizes. Your best chance would be if your prior truck was available to see at wrecker or where it's being stored to get under it and look to get an idea. Otherwise, you might just want to listen around a while to find one that sounded like your old one.

Thanks for your condolences...much appreciated. I went to the Pick N' Pull lot I took my truck to last Friday but unfortunately, it was not showing up in their computer system so that either means 1 of 2 things: Either A, Lance has already been crushed which is possible because they said they crush so many vehicles every day it takes up to a week for all the paperwork to be filed for each one or B, it was moved to the back of the "sort through lot" in which case I would have access to it. The whole front of the truck is ruined but the bed and everything behind it is perfectly fine so technically, the muffler may or may not be damaged. I'm waiting on a call from them before I go out and by a new one unnecessarily but chances are, the truck was already crushed. Best case scenario, I would probably get the exhaust pipe. It was a really bad fire. It's very possible that the muffler was destroyed. I'm going to post the story of what caused the fire but thanks again for your answer, I appreciate it.

And this is my new truck, Lance II. Currently under construction. Getting new trim for passenger's side where some moron slammed into it while it was parked, then getting new muffler, then painting it silver.

hell see if they let you buy it back... you took other stuff like the steps off?

Good news! I have been off this site really busy for the last week figuring out stuff for the new truck but my old one was at Pick N' Pull and it was never crushed! It was actually in the yard so not only did I get pictures of the muffler, I got to bring it home with me!

Thank you very much! I'm assuming it's because of your terrain because out here in Northern California, the demand for trucks like that is only high for high school or college students, like myself, because we don't have backroads or dirt areas to drive them to like in the South or in your case, the Midwest.
