Default Foglight wattage question

Ok, I had one factory fog light out on my 97 Ram, went to the store bought one, and guess what, found out that the book calls for either a 27 watt bulb or a 38 watt bulb. Of course I picked the wrong one and had to return it and get the lower wattage bulb.

Ok, my question is, can the 38 watt bulbs be put in place of the 27 watt bulbs? Why would it call for either or? Thank you for any input, I actually plan on replacing these with after market ones, but to get by I was just hoping to upgrade to the larger wattage. Thanks again

I had the same Issue and yes you can use the 38's Just keep in mind if you run them all the time the 38's the lense will get hotter then the 27's. So like on mine I cracked a lense when i forded a river. Although it might have done it with 27's but the lense is hotter with the 38's. The powers are just the intensity of the bulb. Just like your house. 38's are great ....

Higher wattage also means the bulb is going to run hotter, which means it won't last as long.
