headlight switch retrofit
I've had a bunch of people ask me how I got a newer style switch to work in my 98 which originally had the pull style switch. So here it goes. Remember for my headlights I rewired the actual headlights to run off of a relay, and that I ran the ground wire of the relay through my switch. The parking lights are wired normal. The new style switch has 14 terminals. The following is what color wire from the original harness connects to what terminal on the new switch
-black/yellow
-pink/red
-n/a
-thin tan
-one of the wires for the new headlight relay
-the other wire for the headlight relay
-n/a
-n/a
-n/a
-black/orange
-pink/blue
-n/a
-n/a
-thick tan
Also on a side note.I could not figure out how to get the dome light part of the switch to work without the switch constantly acting up.bit other than that everything dims when it should and the dimmer turns the 3rd brake light on and off. Parking lights work when they should and all that good stuff.id post pics of mine but the PO did a number on the wire harness and everything was jacked up pretty and all it would do is confuse others
