Welcome to the forum!

What kind of a tick? Lifter tick? High voltage arcing? Rotor banging away at a distributor terminal? Tap dancing mouse under the dash?

Guessing that it might be a high voltage arc: Check all eight wires at both ends to ensure the connections are fully seated and secure. If you don't find one loose, run the engine with the hood up in the dark and carefully look for arcing. Don't reach in or lean in, just look. Let us know what you find, or don't find.

Got stethascope? (did I spell that right?)

Check as UU suggested. If it wasn't doing it before the work, it may be something from the work. If not - one common ticking sound can come from the belt tensioner pulley.
