Default Radiator will not drain

Hello,

I am in the process of changing the water pump on my 98 Ram 1500 and it seems that I've run into an issue. I am unable to get the Radiator to drain from the valve on the bottom left (from Drivers Seat) side of the radiator. When turning the valve it appears that it moves only a 1/4 turn. I dont want to force the valve any further so I was thinking of using compressed air to blow up through the bottom of the valve to free up obstructions. I tried poking up into to the valve incase sediment had formed over the whole inside the radiator. Poking from the bottom didnt free it up. I should add that when the radiator cap is removed, the coolant is at the top of the neck and there is coolant in the overflow. Thanks for the input.

Well i say just drain it through your lower radiator hose and let that valve be. Why waste your money? 1500 5.9 4x4

You know, thats a good idea. I guess I was just set on using that 3/8" hose I bought to attach to the valve so I didn't make a big mess. Oh well, I'll have to be agile with my drain pan. I think I'll use your suggestion.

Thanks

Pull the valve out of the radiator with a pair of pliers. You shouldn't have to force it. It's meant to come out so you can service the o-ring. I couldn't get mine to drain either, until I pulled it out.
