Default 1996 v/10

Im going to sell my 06 2500 Ram, while its still worth some thing, off warenty repairs is really bugging me, so Instead of going new, Im going back in time to consider a 1996 ram 2500 with a v/10 ext cab long box 4wd.

Back in 96 I was in the ford camp, so I know verry little abought 96 style dodges.

All my 06 is uesd for is the ocasional run to the dump, truck duites, Im not worreid per say with mileage as I want to keep the utility of a truck, how ever what was the down fall of the v/10 and why did the hemi replace it?

high way mpg, what is realastic with a automtic and did the 96 rams have issues with front cv joints? granted the age of the truck will present some issues down the road and Im prepared to fix as I go.

AS much as I like my truck, I like the potential money value I can get out of it and buy a old beater as my truck sits and falls apart!

The V-10's had issues with the oil pumps, aside from that, they were pretty stout. I don't hear much about other drivetrain issues with them. No CV joints on the front axle. U-joints. D60 up front on those, and also pretty stout. You are looking at around 10 MPG, regardless of what you are doing... I don't think load makes much of a difference to the V-10.
