Transmission band adjustment....what the heck does this mean???
I am getting ready to purchase a 00' reg cab 4X4 w/off-road and 5.9 w/4.10 gears. It has heavy duty tow package also. I have read several posts about "transmission band adjustments". What in the heck does this mean and is this something I should have done as soon as I change all fluids after purchase? Does this extend the life of the transmission?

Here is a good link: http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmissio...T_band_adj.htm
An aftermarket deep pan with a big magnet will also help your tranny live a long happy life.

Where can I purchase an aftermarket deep transmission pan and big magnet?? I am extremely interested in doing this. Also, would replacing the rear diff cover with something like a Mag-hytech (or whatever its called) to aid in the cooling and lubrication of the rear diff as well?? Thanks

If you're going to be doing a lot of towing/offroading, a Mag-hytec differential cover would be the way to go. If you're going to drive around on the highway or in the city, you don't really need one.
As far as a transmission pan, you can get one directly from Chrylser.

Scroll down to the "rwd automatic transmission cast deep oil pan packages" If your truck has a 47RH/RE transmission, you can just get a 727 transmission pan. They're essentially the same. If you have the 46RH/RE, I believe you want the A-518 transmission pan. I'm not 100% sure on that though. To be sure, check with your local dealer. The easiest way to do that is to check the pan gasket part numbers. If they're the same, then it will fit.

BD Diesel Performance makes a good quality deep pan. I also like the B&M, just use a quality composite gasket, not a cheap cork gasket.
