Default Transfer case question

does anyone know what transfer cases will work with the nv4500 transmission?? i have the light duty 4500 with the 23 spline output shaft.. and cant seem to find any 241dhd's for a good price.. will the 241dld's work or even a 231? i just wnat the 4x4 to work im running an all stock 360 with 223xxx miles.

same question. Can I swap my old 231 for a 241 or a 241hd? cannot seem to find this info anywhere

Nope. Not without going into the transfer case and swapping out the input shaft. I think there's like an inch difference. I'm not sure, i could be wrong. You'd be better off going to a junkyard like i did and getting the 231. Becareful though and measure your input shaft on yours and the one you find, for some reason some t-cases have different sized input shafts on the same model t-case.

It think it is the length of the 'snout' that sticks out, the manual trans versions are shorter. I think it also makes a difference if they were behind the v-10, or CTD.... outputs are different on the 241 case as well. 231DHD should bolt right in place though.

Don't know if this helps, but my '95 has a 241 LD behind my 23 spline NV4500LD.
