Default Heated mirror upgrade?

I am interested in adding heated mirrors to my 96 ram 1500, it already has power adjustment mirrors, but not heat. I like the look of the chrome mirrors and don't really want to use the exterior of an aftermarket mirror or a 98 + mirror. Has anyone swapped the guts of the mirror or just added the heated mirror piece. From what I understand the mirror snaps in to the positioning apparatus. Is my best bet to go to a junkyard and see what fits in the assembly? I am not sure how the circuit is wired, i.e. is there a tmeperature control that turns the heating element on and off, or is it a constant current applied the resistance element no matter the temerpature? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about a 96, but on a 98 and up, the heated mirror switch is located on the HVAC control panel. So you'll need one of those too. Problem is, I'm pretty sure the chrome mirrors did not come with heated mirrors(could be wrong). Either way, I think you'll have zero factory wiring.

Download the 96 FSM from the FAQ/DIY section and look in the wiring section.
