Talking Dash Replacement

Well I decided to replace my dash after having the new one sit around for a few weeks. I Think my swear per minute ratio is over 50. Everything was going well but it seems the bolts that hold it into the firewall don't want to line up. I got one in in a matter of 2 hours. I will upload a picture when Im done. If I get done.

Edite: Turns out all you have to do is come here, B*tch about how your dash instalation is going, walk back to your truck and everything goes back nicely. They don't mention that in the service manual.

Sometimes venting is helpful! Glad you got them in!

I replaced mine a couple months ago. I used E&K Bumper Fillers at http://sandkindustries.com/DASH.html. Others have used LMC Truck replacements dash and had good results.

where did you get the dash?do you mean just the dash cover that fits over the top of the dash and a little of the front to cover the cracks?my local dodge dealer told me the dash covers from lmc dont fit right and they use another brand maybe from dodge?i hope you get it to fit that really sucks.

I got mine form E&K Bumper Fillers, but someone else got the LMC and they are both fiull replacement parts with UV protective polymer, whihc the OEM dash dod not have, leading to the notorious brittleness of the plastic. The replacement from the dealer is the OEM and my local dealer gave me a price over $800.

The E&K and LMC are full replacements and not the covers or "skins" that can be obtained from e-bay sellers. The skin may work if you have sufficient dash underneath to support it, but in my case, this was not an option - too much missing.

Others have stated this can be done in around 2 hours. I took about 4 hours but was not in a hurry. Another bit of good advise I received was to go ahead and replace heater core while dash was out. Never a better time!

E&K only comes in black, and I think there are a couple color options on LMC dash. But the proper paint will make the black one work well.

I bought the dash straight from dodge for 198$. I considered getting then cover. But the cover costs as much as the dash in my case. I didnt remove the entire dash. Just lowered it enough to get some screws into the air ducts. I will go out and get some pictures today to show what I removed to get it in. I didnt put all the scres back in. The screws above the glovebox I left out. If I ever have to remove it again it should be much easier.

Was that a real dodge part? Or, did they get it from some aftermarket company??
