98 ram 4x4 steering?

I checked the diy too tune the steering box but I have a question do I check the steering with the truck running or off while on the stands before test drive?

If you are looking for slop in the steering box itself, on the ground is fine, engine off.

If you wanna check the rest of the parts too, pick it up on jack stands. (makes life a LOT easier.)

If you have room leave it on the ground you need to get the rock solid steering bushing and a steering stablizer bracket and bushing they work great!!
