Question PCM or tuner or both

Ok I have a 99 Ram 4x4 318 35's with 456 gears

Other upgrades innclude
True duels
Gidson shorty headers

I have a new M1 intake, but Still haven't installed. I 'm waiting to get my 1.7 rocker arms in so I can do all the work at one time.

My question is, what do I need to do with the PCM or should I just get a tuner for a 99 RAM WITH A 318.

Stock tune will work, so in reality, you don't HAVE to do either.... however. (and you just KNEW that was coming....) the tuner would net you some more gains as well, and get rid of torque management for ya, which gets you up to 20 ft/lbs of torque. (which is what gets the truck going.) Tuner would make up for any loss of low end due to the single plane manifold as well. For 265.00 for the canned tunes, I think its a good idea.

This is basically the best one you could get: http://www.hemifevertuning.com/Produ...ctCode=SCT-Can

And if you upgrade other things like heads & cam you can buy extra tunes for $100 to upload onto this tuner.

I'd suggest you just get the M1 on there first. Get a feel for it, then do the rockers since that effort is easier to do. That's my input and I'm sticking to it!

And that makes perfect sense. If the M! does what you want, spending the additional dollars may not be as beneficial.

A lot of the value comes based on waht you want to do with your truck!
