reason i posted that was.. the o2 sensor was likely bad already, and has been for a while (same goes for plug) so i dont think the o2 sensor is going to be the issue. though, it should obviously be replaced regardless :P

and a bad 02 sensor can cause a vehicle to run rich which in turn leaves a sooty buildup on things like the cat and plugs.... which when left long enough will foul it up.
