Default Cloyes timing gears and chain

just bought a Cloyes timing set for my 98 318 have any of you used the advance or retard keys on your motors or just go with factory specs?

I didn't get the Cloyes, I got SA but from what I have read the advance and retard only have minimal effect because of the computer so I just set mine at 0.

Just set it to factory specs and be done with it.

Just set it at 0, the advance/retard is more or less unnoticeable

I advanced mine and the only difference I noticed was a drop in the engine oil temp by 20 degrees.

Is it a cloyes True Double Roller set? might gain a few ponies.. and i mean a few to a couple but still an awesome piece.

I got the same thing, with 3 positions to install, and after thinking about it, I just went with the factory spec setting. And it runs better now than it did with the sloppy old chain.
