I've been thinking about picking up one of those X-pipe mufflers than Dynomax and Magnaflow make. It looks like it's basically a glasspack but with an x pipe in the middle.

i had on my 01 2500 4x4 dual exhaust which consisted of headers, 2 hi flow cats and 2 mufflers, 2.5" all the back to the tips which i believe where 4", she had a deep lope at idle but once you stepped on her yeah sounded like a 6 cyl w/ glass packs

Yeah i figured as much. lol. These motors sound different thats for sure. But they've got a really good sound at idle. It's just a little too high pitched as it sits with just straight pipes. So I figure a muffler of some kind should help mellow it out a little.

nice truck though, miss mine, traded it for a ford f250, i thought mine would be great for towing and by all means its a powerhouse in that department, i have the superchips tuner for it, and before that i was getting 11 on the hwy and don't even ask about city, i always had some yahoo think there car was better till i left 'em at the light, but with the exhaust and tuner i got 14 almost 15 on the hwy, and towing for every 1000lbs deduct 1.14 mpg if you don't have one i would suggest a tuner world of difference.

Mine isn't fazed by towing. I get 10 mpg not towing and 9 mpg towing (up to 13000 lbs). It just goes lol

Can I get a tuner for it even though its not obd2? Thanks, I like it alot myself. For the age its in pretty good shape, just a little easily fixable rust, and the the clear coat and paint have worn off in some areas but i'll get that taken care of once its on the road.
