lol, Tani. My hood's fiberglass, but I'd bet money that you'd never be able to tell unless you tapped on it. Every single person who's asked me about it, including other Ram guys with aftermarket hoods, thought it was a steel hood.
yea, but when you hit it on a tree branch wheeling it would crack. i just like steel better, its alot easier to fix

I don't wheel my Ram, but I do wheel my RC which also has a fiberglass hood on it. It's been whacked against plenty of branches and has yet to crack.

I find it funny how you guys are saying that a cold air intake is better than the shaker hood. For starters it says that cai`s take air from beside or under the motor and run it all the way up to the throttle body. But fact of the matter is that the cai is still pulling air from the engine compartment where as the shaker is pulling air from out in the open away from the engine. And regardless of cai or ram air speed plays a factor. The faster the vehicle is moving the more air is being collected. Now I`m not saying that the shaker hood is a good investment but if these are the reasons you are basing your decision on than they are very poor. The only true way to know if a cai system would be better would be to run both on the track and see. Not trying to be rude, just needed to be said.

Its better to contribut to and old thread like this to help others who actually use the search function than to keep "reinventing the wheel" and repeat it all again..just more of the same to weed out when searching. ..He likely had googled the shaker hood and this thread came up and he joined to post his two cents..

i wouldn't mind getting a shaker hood on my truck but then i bet the insurance company would be wanting to shake more money out of me. lol. i have also thought about making my own air grabber style hood. i think both would be great to have and could not hurt my gas mileage.

Actually ya, that exactly what happened. I was trying to get some reviews on it and stumbled across this thread. Never thought of checking the date just said what i had to say. Regardless if i would've noticed the date or not i still would've replied to this thread.
