so pull the steering wheel towards you. If you are correct in terms of left and right and your dash is at the windshield pull the steering wheel towards your chest to make them line up.

Yeah I would suggest just trying to "wiggle" it back into place so they line up. Haven't had to take the column on mine off yet (fingers crossed) but on my other trucks that I have done it thats all i did and they eventually lined up. Just make sure nothings preventing you from pushing it in or out a little bit ( bolts, nuts, etc.)

Or buy a semi wheel, then if it happens again it'll be the correct size
