I've gotta replace the power steering pressure hose on my truck. I finally, after much looking around,found it to be the source of my severe PSF leak. The hose is not even a year old and has two tiny pin holes which shoot PSF everywhere when under pressure.

Anyway, judging by the fittings, it would appear I need a flare nut wrench to take off the old and put the new on. Since i don't own any flare nut wrenches, can someone tell me what size I will need? Also, any nasty surprises I should expect?

 

You don't need a flare nut wrench to remove it. A regular combination wrench will work fine if it's not too rusted. ANd since you are replacing it any way, vise grips will work too. LOL But you can get a set at advance or AZ for instance for like 10 bucks. So why screw around?

 

I believe it takes an 18mm open end or crows foot wrench.

 

I've got brand new hoses ready to install when I decide what box I'm getting. But the high pressure hose is 18mm on one end and 16mm on the other.(2000, 2500) Do yourself a favor and get an inexpensive set of line wrenches.

 

Ive changed it with normal open ended wrenches

 

Thing is, a set of line wrenches will also help when doing brake work.
